If the acne scarring is flat and discolored only our scar cream is required. If scarring is raised and/or indented silicone sheeting is required. For maximum results we recommend our discounted scar kits that combine silicone sheeting and scar cream for the treatment of the scarring.
Pro's and Con's of adhesive silicone sheeting.
Pro's - self adhesive silicone sheeting is kept in place over the scar without the use of medical tape.
Con's - sheeting may require taping if your treatment time is extended. Stickiness is also affected by the oiliness of your skin. Can be less effective as adhesive can clog pores in sheets and disks over extended treatment time.
What are Acne Scars and How are they Formed?
In the simplest terms, scars form at the site of an injury to tissue. They are the visible reminders of injury and tissue repair. In the case of acne, the injury is caused by the body's inflammatory response to bacteria and dead cells in plugged follicles. Two main types of acne scars are depressed areas, such as 'ice-pick scars', and raised thickened tissue, such as keloids.
When tissue suffers an injury from acne, the body rushes its 'repair kit' to the injury site. Among the elements of the repair kit are white blood cells and an array of inflammatory molecules that are assigned the task of repairing tissue and fighting infection. However, when their job is done, they may leave a somewhat messy acne repair site, in the form of fibrous scar tissue or eroded tissue.
A Recent Customers Testimonial:
"ReJuveness doesn't boast much about acne scars, so I wasn't expecting much, mistake! When I say "skin-obsessed" I mean it, I have gone through song-and-dances with dermatologists whereby I haul out a mirror and point out the only-visible-to-me scars. They are now gone -- again, not perfect, but I no longer crave laser resurfacing or similar silliness. Those with 'icepick' scars should probably look elsewhere, but minor indentations will be raised -- with patience. I wish this stuff was around when I was twelve (chicken pox) or thirteen (and onwards, the greasy-skin years). There is simply no other over-the-counter treatment that makes such a difference."
Overview of Acne Scar Healing Options
A little research on the Internet will reveal the fact that there are a lot of acne scar healing treatments and options available. The more expensive (and sometimes uncomfortable) acne scar healing treatments include having a dermatologist or plastic surgeon perform a dermabrasion, dermaplaning, or chemical peel to remove the top layer of facial skin. Other doctor-administered acne scar healing treatments are laser treatments, skin grafting, collagen injections, steroid injections, and plastic surgery. All of these acne scar healing treatments vary, of course, in terms of price, healing time, level of discomfort, whether anesthesia or sedatives are used, and the number and duration of office visits. There are pros and cons to virtually all acne scar treatments, including potential surgical risks; and everyone's acne scar healing experience and outcome will be unique. It depends on factors such as skin characteristics, age of the scar and of the person, and the extent of the scarring.

Scar Healing Silicone Discs
An inter-related acne scar healing strategy involves the use of silicone sheeting discs (see below) that can help flatten and restore normal color to the affected area. A synergistic effect is often achieved by combining the use of the silicone discs with our acne scar removal cream (Hyper Heal Scar Cream).
